On August 13, 2024, I asked my Instagram followers and LinkedIn connections, “Is 27 a part of your late or mid-twenties?” Nearly 80% believe that 27 ushers in one’s late twenties. On August 14, 2024, I embraced my late twenties by thinking of some lessons I learned throughout my early and mid-twenties.

27 Lessons From My 20s (so far)

  1. You will be great (at least) at one thing

  2. He’s not worth it

  3. Do not be afraid to start something new

  4. Find your niche

  5. Travel is a tool for self-development, but do not use it as an excuse to avoid your problems.

  6. Your past informs your present.

  7. You will have a bad day, and that's okay

  8. Graduating college is not the end of the world, but the end of a chapter

  9. Starting college is the start of a chapter, not your life story.

  10. Pay attention to pop culture: You never know how Kris Jenner can help you professionally.

  11. You have the power to determine the impact of someone's words.

  12. Carolina basketball bonds many people

  13. The first days of anything are scary

  14. Be a person, not an ideal.

  15. You can reach out to your childhood hero, sometimes they'll talk to you

  16. The path to success is not linear; it's a scatter plot.

  17. Just like dating, job interviews can have red flags.

  18. Be a springboard for other people's stories.

  19. It's hard to find a job.

  20. Dogs bring people happiness.

  21. Biology mirrors business.

  22. Learn from others

  23. 1990s pop culture permeates every facet of society

  24. Mentors will always be there for you

  25. Use social media to network

  26. Technology is your friend, not your enemy

  27. Every adventure or mistake is a good source material for your eventual memoir.

As I enter my late twenties, may this chapter bring good health, happiness, love, adventure, and many more blog articles.
