Design Thinking: Little Word Project (LWP)

In Graduate School, one of the buzzwords professors love to discuss is "Design Thinking." Design Thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems to identify alternative strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding (Dam and Siang). Design Thinking enables a company to understand consumer needs to serve their audience better. For this project, I contacted different companies to learn how the organizations apply Design Thinking to their market offerings. I spoke with Alex Dorey, Marketing Coordinator, to learn more about Little Word Project.

1. What makes LWP different from other brands on the market?

Little Words Project is different from other brands because while our product is important, our mission is our main priority. Little Words Project aims to inspire and encourage people to be kind to themselves and to pay that kindness forward, one bracelet at a time. We are very dedicated to giving back and are very intentional about the collections we create, always going back to our goal of spreading kindness.

2. How does LWP stay ahead of upcoming trends?

Little Words Project stays ahead of upcoming trends by truly caring about the customer’s opinions and values. We are constantly engaging with our audience to see what causes they care about, what styles they love, and what they are craving from the brand.

3. Where does LWP draw inspiration from during the design process?

Here at Little Words Project, we take a lot of pride in putting out quality products that are fun, new, and different. Throughout the conceptualization and planning of each collection, we always ask ourselves, "How can this bring more positivity to the world?". Each product we launch is created to remind each wearer that they are enough, they are strong, and they can conquer anything that comes their way. We strive to make the world kinder, one Little Word at a time.

4. How does LWP incorporate its mission and vision into its product offerings?

Every single Little Words Project item includes a beaded word that is literally spelled out. Our products have words of encouragement that are truly so special to pass on. Whether a customer is wearing “you got this,” for example, as a self-reminder, a reminder for the world, or an opportunity to give to someone who really needs to hear, it is so impactful and epitomizes what it means to spread kindness.

5. What is the future of the company?

The future of Little Words Project is going to continue to help the world be a kinder, friendlier place through new designs, partnerships, and collaborations.
