Design Thinking: NoThing Please

Image depicts the The Maria Sweatshirt Black. The sweatshirt is described as Have you ever tried sweatshirts that fits you amazing in the shoulders and makes you feel super comfortable and look fitted at the same time? Probably not, that's why we made The María Sweatshirt, a crewneckline sweatshirt that fits perfectly in the shoulders, has a great fit, it's comfortable and the fabric is super soft. Maybe we just created the sweatshirt. 100% cotton French Terry. Runs true to size, keep in mind model is wearing XS. This sweatshirt is my favorite, not too fitted, not big. Model Measurements: Height: 5" 8.2' 1.73 cm Waist: 23.6” 60 cm Hips: 34.6” 88 cm Bust: 32.3" 82 cm Product Measurements in photo (Size XS): Length: 21 3/4" Chest: 19 1/4", Sleeve Length: 22 1/2" Model is wearing size XS. The María Sweatshirt is named after María Cornejo, founder and designer of Zero+María Cornejo, someone I really admire. Not only as a designer, but as a person too. She was so nice to invite me to make a trainee with her, opened me the doors of her office, showed me how to lead with love, respect and caring always for the people & the world. I'll be forever grateful María and this is one way for me to thank you. Gracias..

In Graduate School, one of the buzzwords professors love to discuss is "Design Thinking." Design Thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems to identify alternative strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding (Dam and Siang). Design Thinking enables companies to understand consumer needs to serve their audience better. For this project, I contacted different companies to learn how organizations applied Design Thinking. I spoke with NoThing Please founder Daniela Bustamante to learn how her company incorporates its mission and vision into its products.

1. What makes NoThing Please different from other brands?

Sustainability and quality are at the forefront of every decision made at NoThing. From ideation to the final product, we create garments crafted from sustainable materials and designed to last multiple seasons.

Image depicts the Tita high neck tee. This product is described as 92% Cotton 8% Spandex Rib One of my favorites articles, everyone need a fitted basic for winter or mid season without being too tight. You will wish all your tees were made from this fabric. Runs true to size. As a latin, we grow old with a strong family circle. My dad parents passed away before I was born, so my moms parents, where everything to me. I called my grandma "Tita". She was a woman of character, very independent and always worked. She taught me to buy less, but looking always for better qualities, she taught me about basics. I was lucky to have her very present in my life until my 30's. This is my way to honor her. This one is for you, Tita. You would have definitely used this.

2. Where does NoThing Please find inspiration from when designing its products?

We find inspiration in female leaders. These game-changers are secure in themselves and want to feel comfortable in their daily routines.

Image depicts the Vionnet Tee Pink. This product is described as 100% Cotton crepe, crew neckline, with a knot, sleeveless in one arm and long sleeve in the other because, it's all about balance right? We made a pink option because let's confess, pink is now a basic color, for not so basic people. Have your ever heard about Madeleine Vionnet? Ugh! (rolling eyes) You should! She was a French Haute Couture fashion designer, who mastered and re mastered the art of draping and the bias cut, she almost invented it! Like us, she didn't believed in trends and she wanted to embrace the woman silhouette. In the early years, her employees enjoyed paid holidays, maternity leave, an on-site dentist, doctor and canteen. Something that wasn't common in those days. She passed away in 1975. And we really admire her for being an artist and a woman of voice and leading with example in those years.

3. How does NoThing Please incorporate its mission and vision into its products?

Throughout a product's lifecycle, we constantly search for the better option for the planet and the people we work with (garment workers or factories). Consequently, we develop products that align with our values.

Image depicts A mix of viscose and elite, and its buttery touch makes this Laura tank in your MUST HAVE in your closet. And let me tell you it's an only a one way ticket, after you try this tank. Is like "once you wear black, you never go back" This literally happened to Estefania Lacayo, and that's why we renamed this article after her, in her honor and as a sign of thankfulness to her loyalty. Some clients buy 2 of each color every season, wanna prove them wrong? Or like Estefania says, is the best tank in the world. Estefania tank is named after Estefania Lacayo co Founder of Latin-American Fashion Summit, wife and mother of 2. She always figure it out to be an amazing mom, wife, entrepreneur, loyal friend and always has a word to encourage you, and a great advice if asked. (Also she is super fan of this tank so it didn't make any sense to put her name in other article than this). Latin American Fashion Summit is a renowned platform and annual conference that has as mission to elevate and enrich the Latin American fashion industry, with Samantha Tams, her partner, they also created Tribu powered by LAFS, an online networking platform."

4. What advice would you give to students and young professionals who want to enter this realm?

The best advice is to follow your values and work hard. Don't be afraid of starting at the "bottom."

Nowadays, everyone wants to become the CEO immediately, but starting from scratch builds a foundation of success. - Daniela Bustamante

The image depicts Mouton Tee. 100% Cotton crepe, crew neckline, short sleeves, but body is wide. Super comfy the ideal tee to leave it a little bit inside the jeans and that got your back covered! Runs a bit big, almost true to size but fitted in the shoulders only. About the touch of this fabric, what can I say, its to die for. Keep in mind model is wearing XS. Model Measurements: Height: 5" 8.2' 1.73 cm Waist: 23.6” 60 cm Hips: 34.6” 88 cm Bust: 32.3" 82 cm Product Measurements in photo (Size XS): Length: 24" Chest: 18 1/2", Sleeve Length: 5 1/2" Model is wearing size XS. Who needs Penelope Glamour if there is Michele Mouton? The Mouton Tee is named after Michele Mouton who is a French former Rally Driver, she started competing when it wasn't common to see women behind the steering wheel. She won 4 World Rally Championship, her last won was in 1982. Chapeau Mademoiselle Mouton, we honor you.

5. What is the future of the company?

We want to be a sustainable company in the retail space. To that end, we need to prove the following account is correct.

Retail is not dead, bad retail is dead- Alexandre Arnault.
