Design Thinking: Touchland

In Graduate School, one of the buzzwords professors love to discuss is "Design Thinking." Design Thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems to identify alternative strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding (Dam and Siang). Design Thinking enables a company to understand consumer needs to serve their audience better. For this project, I contacted different companies to learn how the organizations apply Design Thinking to their market offerings. I spoke with Touchland to learn more about the company.

1. What makes Touchland different from other brands?
Everything we do, we do it the Touchland way - especially as we are category creators and we are changing the game of personal care. We challenge the market and ourselves – never standing still and always transforming to maintain incomparability. We address every inch of our products with beauty and perfection – paying attention to detail and listening to feedback. We express through emotively led experiences – everything we do brings memories, joy, and feelings into people’s lives. We put our customers at the core of who we are, enabling the essence of community – in kinship and connection – through the Touchland experience. We wear our hearts on our sleeves – always valuing honesty, accountability, and listening to one another to do what’s right.

2. How does Touchland promote cleanliness with clean ingredients?
We make cleanliness a beauty experience and that’s why our formulas are formulated with clean, vegan, and cruelty-free ingredients. People look forward to those skincare moments and that’s how we make cleanliness something you look forward to.

3. How does Touchland incorporate its mission and vision into its products?
Everything that we do from concept, form factor, design, scent, formulation, and experience is infused with our mission and vision that is truly about elevating daily moments of personal care into rituals of skincare. Our vision is to elevate everything ordinary into something extraordinary and our mission is to create products that bring beauty, health, and delight to the everyday.

4. What is the future of the company?
Our goal is to become true disruptors of personal care and beautify categories of personal care that are mundane, soulless, and lack of joy. Hand sanitizer has been the first of many other categories Touchland has set up to reinvent.
