I Believe In Love At First Bite: Why You Should Get a Sprinkles Cupcake

Sprinkles Cupcake started the cupcake mania of the early and mid-2010s. I remember watching Food Network's Cupcake Wars, where Sprinkles Founder Cadence Nelson judged bakers on appearance, taste, and technique. In 2021, Sprinkles remains at the epicenter of the cupcake boom. My first time tasting a Sprinkles Cupcake was on May 25, 2016. The only reason I know the exact date was because I posted an Instagram (the image above) at the Chicago Location with the caption: I Believe In Love At First Bite. Sprinkles was the first brand that interacted with me on Social Media when the company said, " We're #meanttobe ." In retrospect, Sprinkles showed me how brands could create and cement relationships with customers through social media usage. I spoke with Mary F., Sprinkle's Social Media Coordinator, to learn more about the company.

1. What makes Sprinkles Cupcakes different from other cupcake or bakeries?

Sprinkles, the original cupcake bakery, started the cupcake craze in 2005. As the first, there was lots of learning as you go. We've always used premium, quality ingredients for our cupcakes and bake fresh daily. At Sprinkles, you're always going to get a delicious, moist cupcake!

2. How does Sprinkles Cupcake incorporate its mission and vision into its product offerings?

We utilize our platform to uplift women, highlight minority owned bakeries, and continuing to educate ourselves about different communities.

3. How did Sprinkles evolved due to the Covid-19 pandemic?

The bakery itself is a part of the Sprinkles experience. Besides being aesthetically pleasing, people can learn more about our brand and our mission when visiting. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we developed outdoor kiosks. These kiosks are still in use today! We encouraged everyone to pre-order by making their cupcake reservation online or on our app. This helps to ensure we have your desired flavors. Our Cupcake ATM was great for COVID-19 because it's a contactless way to receive your cupcakes. COVID-19 showed us that people have a stronger desire to celebrate birthdays, holidays, or life events with family and friends. Sprinkles allows people to eat desserts in a COVID-19 friendly way!

4. If you had to put together a pack of six cupcakes, which one would they be?

The first would be our Red Velvet. You have to try the Sprinkles Red Velvet as it is what we're known for! I think it's what we do best. We also offer a vegan, gluten free, and sugar free twist on our Red Velvet. Our Black and White, Strawberry, and Sprinkle are incredibly popular as well. If you want to keep it classic, I would add Vanilla or Dark Chocolate. But two underrated cupcakes - in my opinion - are the Salt Caramel and Chocolate Marshmallow

5. What is the future of the company?

We're more than cupcakes. Our product selection includes cookies, brownies, and layer cakes. Our seasonal flavors evolve and we are trying to see how to apply the lessons we learned from starting the cupcake craze to other desserts. While the cupcake craze is not dying, it can be seen as dated. We want people to go to Sprinkles not only from a desire to be apart of a trendy thing but also pioneering the dessert realm.
