The Nexus of Hospitality: Why You Should Stay At San Domenico Palace, a Four Seasons Hotel

Noble Prize Winner Gabriel García Márquez once said, "Going to Sicily is better than going to the moon." This description is apt because Sicily possesses both otherworldly beauty and history.

Under the watchful fury of Mount Etna, Sicilians understand how life can change instantly. Yet, there are some rewards for living under an active volcano. The island's soil produces some of the best produce in the world. The constant ebb and flow of magma inspires great writers, directors, and artists. Rather than living in constant fear, Sicilians defiantly live as they have done for over 2700 years as a nexus of hospitality.

Tucked in the hillsides of Taormina, The Four Seasons Domenico Palace is the epicenter of Sicilian hospitality. Since 1896, the property has been a part of the cultural zeitgeist. You might have even seen the hotel on HBO's White Lotus Season 2. I had a chance to speak with a spokesperson from the hotel to learn why you should stay at the property.

1. Why should someone stay at The San Domenico Palace, Taormina?

The San Domenico Palace is a 127-year-old hotel situated in Southern Italy. The property was originally a fourteenth-century monastery but was transformed into a hotel in 1896. Since its founding, the property hosted many aristocrats, poets, and celebrities. Additionally, the hotel has been the stage for many films and television shows.

2. How has The San Domenico Palace, Taormina, evolved since its founding?

In 2021, The San Domenico Palace joined the Four Seasons family. After almost three years of massive renovation and restoration, this place remains elegant, unique, and timeless. I would describe the property as a “Museum Resort.”

5. What is the future of the property?
