What is the most important part of an outfit? Some argue that pants or shirts reign supreme. Others might contend that shoes play the most vital part of your ensemble. I want to shift your perspective by declaring that the belt is the unsung wardrobe hero. Belts keep everything in place. They enable the wearer to showcase their individuality while ensuring that their clothes remain exactly where they were intended.

Consumers are becoming more educated about their purchases' environmental and economic costs. Consequently, customers want to support brands that produce high-quality products and adhere to environmentally conscious practices like Vaincourt Paris. Since 2011, Vaincourt revolutionized the belt industry by partnering with Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, a talented crafted leather goods maker, to create timeless accessories. I spoke with Sophie Gachet, Vaincourt's Paris General Manager, to learn more about the company.

  1. What makes Vaincourt Paris different from other companies?

Vaincourt Paris specializes in creating high-quality belts. Every Vaincourt Paris product is designed and manufactured in France according to our internal standards for Parisian design and environmental sustainability.

  2. How has Vaincourt Paris evolved since its founding?

Vaincourt Paris was founded in 2011 by a woman whose experience in ready-to-wear fashion and showrooms gave her a deep understanding of the importance of high-quality leather goods. Initially, Vaincourt Paris operated primarily as a storefront rather than a distinctive brand. After nine years of her leadership, the company began a new chapter in 2020 when I took on the team leader role. We redefined the brand's direction with our shareholders, focusing on establishing a strong international and digital presence.

  1. What advice would you give to students and young professionals who want to enter this realm?

Before leading Vaincourt Paris, I spent over 20 years working with the holding group LVMH. I advise students and young professionals to carefully consider the benefits and challenges of working for an established company versus a start-up.

Work at a large fashion group. You will gain deep insights into how your specific subdivision (such as marketing, operations, or supply chain) operates within the broader fashion ecosystem. You’ll also be exposed to various business cases and develop communication skills with leadership and peers.

On the other hand, working at a start-up offers a 360° view of all business decisions, allowing you to learn through hands-on experience and build close relationships with your coworkers. It is generally easier to transition from a large organization to a start-up than to go in the opposite direction.

  2. What is the future of the company?

We will continue to produce high-quality leather goods across the fashion and pet accessories markets.
